                      Sesame Street in Communities

                      June 18, 2020

Sesame Street in Communities Features Free Webinar with Fatherhood Advocate and CEO of Fathers Incorporated just in time for Father’s Day

Author & CEO Kenneth Braswell Partners with the Popular Brand to Help Practitioners Create an Open and Inclusive Space for Fathers

Father’s Day is quickly approaching and what better way to celebrate fathers than to understand more about their unique strengths and unique needs. Research shows that an involved dad can make a big difference in the lives of his children. As part of its Sesame Street in Communities program, Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, will host a free webinar for fatherhood practitioners featuring Kenneth Braswell, CEO of Fathers Incorporated. Kenneth shares insights and strategies from his many years helping fathers—and the providers who serve them—be the best they can be. Registration is available here.

Kenneth Braswell is the author of several books, four of which are children’s books, Daddy, There’s A Noise Outside, Daddy Is Feeling Blue, Daddy’s Family Tree, and Daddy, Can I Cry.  The former has become a popular resource for talking to children about protesting and Black Lives Matter.

Kenneth Braswell has spent over 30 years in the service of family and community. Husband and father of 5, in 2004, he created Fathers Incorporated (FI) and has served as Chief Executive Officer since its inception. With national and international missions; the agency has provided capacity building services to thousands of organizations working to ensure that fathers contribute to the healthy well-being of their children. Fathers Incorporated is currently the prime contractor for National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse (Fatherhood.gov). Braswell is the author of “When The Tear Won’t Fall: One Man’s Journey Through The Intimate Struggles of Manhood and Fatherhood. In addition to writing books, Mr. Braswell is also the creator of three powerful documentaries: “Spit’in Anger”, “Dark Hearts” and “A Queen’s Discovery. He is a much sought after keynote speaker, presenter, trainer and media consultant in issues related to Faith, Family & Fatherhood; with an intentional focus on Black Men and Boys.

“As someone who grew up in Brooklyn and in the backdrop of Sesame Street, it is an honor to be able to contribute to the mission of serving parents and practitioners”, says Braswell.”

“We’re excited to team up with Fathers Incorporated to help community providers across the country engage with fathers more intentionally—addressing their unique needs and celebrating their strengths,” said Tara Wright, Professional Development Manager, Sesame Workshop. “At a time when so many families are facing unprecedented challenges, we’re proud to mark Father’s Day with our shared commitment to giving caregivers—particularly dads—the tools they need to foster resilience at home.”[/blockquote]

The webinar is part of Sesame Street in Communities, which provides free, bilingual resources for providers and caregivers to help children and families navigate challenges big and small. Using the power of the beloved Muppets of Sesame Street, the resources are designed to build coping skills and foster nurturing connections between children and the caring adults in their lives. All resources are available for free in English and Spanish website.

By the end of this webinar, you’ll be equipped with a better understanding of how crucial fathers are to their children and families, and how you can empower them through your work.
